Responsibilities
- Get patients to clinical areas, support units, or other departments using wheelchairs or stretchers.
- Help folks move from beds to wheelchairs or stretchers without a hitch.
- Walk discharged patients to the hospital lobby.
- Double-check patient wristbands and pagers to make sure they match medical records.
- Look over oxygen tanks to confirm they’ve got enough juice before moving patients.
- Say hello to patients and visitors, lending a hand when needed.
- Keep transport equipment clean to meet hospital hygiene rules.
- Spot any equipment problems and report them right away.
- Jot down notes about equipment issues or safety checks.
- Drop off linen carts and medical gear to the right spots in the hospital.
- Go through three months of training to get the hang of hospital layouts and safety steps.
- Wear protective gear as required by hospital rules.
- Use the right techniques to move patients safely.
- Team up with medical staff to keep transports on track.
