Job Title
Dairy Farm Assistant
Responsibilities
- Assist in the milking of 950 cows using a 60-bale rotary system
- Support with calving and rearing of heifer replacement calves
- Carry out animal health checks and implement welfare practices
- Feed livestock according to farm procedures
- Maintain fences, gates, and farm infrastructure
- Operate machinery and farm vehicles as needed
- Conduct effluent spreading and management
- Spray weeds and carry out general farm maintenance
- Participate in pasture management activities
- Record and report relevant farm data
- Comply with all health and safety guidelines
- Maintain cleanliness in the milking shed and surrounding areas
- Communicate with farm managers and team members effectively
- Support training of new or junior staff
- Attend meetings and contribute to team planning
Requirements and Qualifications
Education
No formal education required; agricultural training is an advantage
Experience
Previous experience in dairy farming preferred but not essential
Skills
- Strong physical fitness and stamina
