Responsibilities

  • Pull spikes from rail ties.
  • Shovel rocks and gravel on the track.
  • Use tools to install rail anchors.
  • Lift and carry tools or materials up to 50 lbs.
  • Work outside in rain, snow, sun whatever the day is.
  • Help out on repair jobs when something breaks.
  • Ride out to different worksites.
  • Stay alert around trains and equipment.
  • Use radios to talk with crew.
  • Clean up after jobs.
  • Help move materials to and from the site.
  • Support other crew members with small jobs.
  • Keep track clear of ice or debris.
  • Follow safety rules every day.
  • Switch tasks when asked every day’s different.

Requirements and Qualifications

Education

High school diploma or GED.

Experience

  • Fit enough to lift and bend.
