Responsibilities
- Talk to guests. Don’t just wait — check in, ask what they need.
- Take orders. Bring food, drinks. Clear tables when done.
- Help other waiters if your section’s quiet.
- Follow the shift rules — timing, breaks, cleaning tasks.
- Keep work areas clean. Clean means clean, not “sort of.”
- Learn the menu. Know the specials.
- Keep things moving during rush hours.
Requirements and Qualifications
Education
No degree. Just basic reading and speaking in English.
Experience
If you’ve worked in a restaurant or hotel, that’s good. If not, that’s okay too. They’ll train.
Skills
- Speak English. Understand guests.
- Stay calm when it’s loud or busy.
- Show up on time. That matters a lot.
- Friendly but not over the top.
- Keep track of multiple orders at once.
- Can stand/walk for hours.
Knowledge
- Knows how to set tables.
- Maybe used POS machines or not — they’ll show you.
- Knows the idea of food hygiene — clean hands, clean tray.
- Understands basic service rules.
- Can work both lunch and dinner shifts, maybe weekends.
- Knows how to treat guests properly, even when tired.
