Responsibilities
- Tackle daily chores in the Nursery and Finishing pens, like feeding and cleaning up.
- Make sure pigs have food and water around the clock.
- Keep an eye on pigs’ health every day and follow the Animal Care Plan for any treatments.
- Help shift pigs from nursery to finishing areas each week.
- Pitch in when picking out pigs for market or breeding stock.
- Check that pens stay at the right temp and air quality for the pigs’ comfort.
- Scrub down work areas to keep everything spotless and germ-free.
- Take care of any deceased pigs according to farm rules.
- Write down pig data using MetaFarms or paper charts, keeping things accurate.
- Give a hand in the Farrowing and Lactation area on weaning days.
- Get pens ready by washing them down, disinfecting, and setting up gear.
- Look over farm tools and buildings, fixing small issues as they pop up.
- Jump in on other farm tasks when the Production Manager needs you.
- Show up on time for team huddles and training sessions.
- Stick to Fenor Farms’ rules on safety, health, and keeping diseases out.
Requirements
Education
Need a high school diploma or something equivalent. Any extra training in farming or animal care is a nice bonus.
Experience
Best if you’ve got 2-3 years working with animals or on a farm. Stuff like volunteering or internships with livestock counts too.
Skills
- Solid English for reading, writing, and chatting with coworkers.
- Sharp focus to keep records neat and correct.
- Good at pitching in with the team and doing what’s asked.
- Strong enough to lift 20 kg, climb over gates, and handle tough tasks.
