A full-time Multi Carpenter position is available with Cardo (Wales & West) in Christchurch, Canterbury, New Zealand. TThe role focuses on high quality carpenters and repair of multi -companies in social housing characteristics. The candidates should have experience in the home maintenance, especially in carpentry, and should be comfortable with handling a variety of repair tasks. This situation requires on -site presence and may include emergency challenges, which contain an annual allowance of approximately 5,000 NZD. A valid driver’s licence and NVQ in Carpentry are essential.

Multi Carpenter.

Responsibilities

  • Perform responsive repairs and general maintenance on residential properties.
  • Carry out carpentry works including door and window replacements.
  • Install and repair skirting, architraves, flooring, and second-fix carpentry.
  • Repair or install fencing and timber-based external structures.
  • Conduct basic plumbing such as tap replacements and leak repairs.
  • Execute patch plastering jobs as needed.
  • Handle minor tiling and touch-up painting/decorating tasks.
  • Change locks during emergency call-outs.
  • Diagnose faults accurately and apply on-the-spot fixes wherever possible.
  • Adhere strictly to workplace health and safety regulations.
  • Maintain a high standard of workmanship and complete jobs within deadlines.
  • Communicate effectively with tenants and maintain a professional demeanor.
  • Participate in a rotating on-call schedule with additional compensation.
  • Work independently or as part of a team depending on the job scope.

Requirements and Qualifications

Education

  • NVQ Level 2 or above in Carpentry
  • Trade certification in multi-skills (preferred but not mandatory)

Experience

Minimum 2 years of experience in a Multi Trader role.

Skills

  • Proficiency in carpentry and general maintenance
  • Basic plumbing and plastering capabilities
  • Competence with UPVC window and lock repairs
  • Strong time management and organization
  • Good interpersonal and tenant-facing skills

Knowledge

  • Understanding of health and safety procedures on-site.
  • Familiarity with domestic property systems and maintenance.
  • Best practices in multi-trade servicing.
  • Tools and equipment required for carpentry and basic trades.
  • Methods for diagnosing and resolving building maintenance issues.
  • Compliance standards in social housing environments.
