There’s a seasonal opening in Bakersfield, California for a Field Assistant at Beeflow, a growing biotech company in agriculture. This is a part-time role, running 20 to 25 hours per week, lasting around 5 to 6 weeks during the Almond season starting late January or early February. Pay is competitive, and the role is ideal for someone with a background in biology, agriculture, or related fields.

You’ll help with data collection, fieldwork, and general support for pollination trials. This includes working outside in all types of weather, handling bees (with safety gear), tagging plants, and helping the operations team run field activities smoothly. You need a valid license, good communication and comfort that works on your own in remote areas. If you are expanded oriented, prefer to work in nature, and sometimes do not keep the bees into consideration, it can fit the right.

Responsibilities

  • Support the execution of crop pollination services in multiple locations.
  • Help with tagging branches and maintaining systematic tracking of crops.
  • Record daily field notes and upload data accurately.
  • Participate in ongoing research trials when required.
  • Report feedback to help improve future operations.
  • Maintain consistent communication with the remote team.
  • Work independently while completing tasks efficiently.
  • Follow safety procedures, including when working around bees.

Requirements and Qualifications

Education

A BS in Entomology, Agronomy, Plant Sciences, Biology, Ecology, or a similar field is preferred but not required.

Experience

  • Experience in field research is helpful.
  • Driving long distances in rural/agricultural areas is expected.

Skills

  • Organized and detail-oriented.
  • Can work independently in remote field settings.
  • Comfortable using mobile tools like Google Docs and Slack.
  • Good communicator, both written and spoken.
  • Fluent in English; Spanish a plus.
  • Open to feedback and process improvement.

Knowledge

  • Basics of plant science and crop systems.
  • Importance of pollination in agriculture.
