Farm Assistant Worker
Responsibilities
- Assist in the maintenance and repair of canopy structures, including posts, wires, and trellis systems
- Use hand tools and light equipment for orchard upkeep
- Repair sprinkler systems and pipe fittings using standard tools
- Assist with general building, yard, and fence maintenance
- Irrigate crops effectively and report any deficiencies
- Assist with moving materials and rotating stock
- Maintain site cleanliness and orderliness
- Adhere to biosecurity, health and safety, and operational procedures
- Operate farm machinery and drive tractors for routine orchard tasks
- Support orchard staff during busy seasonal periods
- Complete assigned duties within established timeframes and quality expectations
- Contribute to team meetings and feedback sessions when required
- Maintain logs of daily tasks and machinery use
Requirements and Qualifications
Education
- Completion of Level 2 or Level 3 certification in agriculture or a related field is preferred
- Alternatively, applicants must have at least 12 months of relevant experience
Experience
1 year or more in farming, horticulture, or orchard maintenance preferred
Skills
- Proficiency in using hand and power tools
- Physical strength and stamina for outdoor labor
- Familiarity with light farm equipment
- Clear communication for reporting and teamwork
- Time management and task prioritization
Knowledge
- Canopy structure systems and their upkeep
