Mining Pro is seeking experienced Excavator Operators for full-time roles based at the South Walker Creek Open Cut Coal Mine near Townsville, Queensland. This on-site opportunity offers a 7/7 rotating roster, accommodation, meals, and BIBO from Mackay. Candidates must have at least 2 years of coal mining experience and be skilled in operating large-scale mining excavators. A valid Australian driver’s license and verified training transcripts are required. A sign-on bonus, production incentives, and comprehensive benefits are included in the package.

Excavator Operator.

Responsibilities

• Operate large-scale mining excavators including Liebherr R996B, Hitachi EX5600, and EX3600.
• Conduct pre-start checks and routine safety inspections.
• Maintain accurate records of equipment usage and condition.
• Work within pit operational plans and site procedures.
• Assist in maintaining a safe and clean work environment.
• Communicate effectively with dispatch and production teams.
• Support daily production targets and machine performance goals.
• Identify and report mechanical or operational issues.
• Participate in toolbox meetings and safety briefings.
• Adhere to site-specific safety regulations and environmental policies.
• Work effectively within a 7/7 roster system.
• Cooperate with team leads to manage shift transitions.
• Monitor dig face conditions and bucket placement.
• Respond promptly to instruction from supervisors or control rooms.
• Contribute to a positive safety culture and operational success.

Requirements and Qualifications

Education

High School Certificate or equivalent

Experience

Minimum 2 years of experience in coal mining operations.

Skills

• Proficient in operating large excavators in a production environment
• Strong communication and team coordination skills
• Awareness of safe machine operation protocols
• Ability to work on a rostered shift basis
• High level of physical stamina and focus

Knowledge

• Experience with open-cut coal mining procedures
• Familiarity with South Walker Creek or similar operations
• Understanding of equipment monitoring systems
• Knowledge of environmental and safety compliance
• Basic mechanical troubleshooting of mining machinery
• Record-keeping and compliance with site documentation standards
