Responsibilities
- Drive residents to outings and medical appointments.
- Use both the van and Cadillac depending on the trip.
- Keep vehicles clean and safe.
- Follow the route, check the schedule, and be ready for changes.
- Help residents in and out of the vehicle when needed.
- Report any issues with the car or trip.
- Stay on top of safety, especially when driving groups.
- Talk to staff and residents clearly and kindly.
Requirements and Qualifications
Education
High school diploma or GED.
Experience
2 years of driving experience (or a solid equivalent).
Licenses
- Valid CA Class B license with passenger endorsement.
- First Aid certificate within 90 days (from AHA).
Skills
- Can read safety instructions and trip schedules.
- Speaks and understands English clearly.
- Friendly and steady under pressure.
- Basic math — for time, routes, and logs.
- Stays calm around older adults.
Knowledge
- Knows how to handle group driving safely.
- Can spot vehicle issues before they become a problem.
- Familiar with how to help residents with mobility challenges.
- Understands traffic rules and DMV safety guidelines.
- Good at keeping a driving log or checklist.
