Crane Operator
Responsibilities
Operate offshore cranes within safety limits and load guidelines
- Inspect cranes daily and document operational checks
- Support cargo transfers to and from supply vessels
- Supervise personnel transfer procedures from shuttle boats
- Follow maintenance schedules and keep equipment in working order
- Take part in safety drills and incident response training
- Comply with Permit to Work systems and lifting procedures
- Report hazards, near misses, and safety concerns promptly
- Participate in regular toolbox talks and safety briefings
- Monitor crane movement in tight weather conditions
- Provide guidance to junior staff during crane-related tasks
- Collaborate with deck crew for smooth marine operations
- Promote safe working practices at all times
- Contribute to site safety audits and risk evaluations
- Remain alert and responsive in emergency situations
Requirements and Qualifications
Education
- Higher Secondary Certificate
- Technical Diploma (HNC, HND, or equivalent)
- Valid Driver’s Certificate from a recognized training body
Experience
- 10+ years of crane operation experience
- Minimum 5 years in offshore environments, preferably in oil and gas
Skills
- Skilled in operating pedestal and hydraulic cranes
- Able to read and follow lifting plans and safety procedures
- Comfortable working at heights and in harsh conditions
- Capable of quick, calm decision-making during emergencies
- Good recordkeeping and equipment log entry
Knowledge
- Familiar with Liebherr, Seatrax, and Hydro Lift crane systems
- Strong understanding of offshore safety protocols
- Knowledge of cargo handling and marine logistics
- Awareness of environmental and permit compliance
- Experienced in using radios and other offshore communication tools
