Commis 3 – Pastry
Responsibilities
- Assist in preparing baked goods, desserts, and other pastry items for different areas of the hotel
- Follow instructions from senior chefs and contribute during prep and service periods
- Maintain cleanliness in the pastry department and ensure tools and equipment are used safely
- Help with inventory inspections, stock rotation, and storing ingredients appropriately
- Support the staff with day-to-day culinary activities and participate during hectic periods
- Stick to health and hygiene standards at all times
- Participate in plating and decorating when needed
Learn and apply recipes as instructed without deviation - Be ready to adjust to different tasks depending on the day’s service needs
- Handle basic prep independently when assigned
Requirements and Qualifications
Education
Formal culinary or pastry training is preferred but not required
Experience
1 to 2 years in a pastry or kitchen role, preferably in a hotel or restaurant
Skills
- Able to follow recipes accurately
- Good with time management in a kitchen setting
- Knows how to work cleanly and efficiently
- Comfortable with basic pastry tools and ovens
- Understands how to work as part of a kitchen team
- Willing to learn and take feedback
Knowledge
- Basics of pastry production, including doughs, creams, and baking methods
- Safe handling of food and kitchen equipment
- Familiarity with different dessert types and service standards
- How to store ingredients properly
- Awareness of common allergens
- General understanding of hotel kitchen operations
