The role suits someone who’s hands-on, doesn’t mind long days, and is keen to stay active outdoors during the season.. Pay starts at $30 an hour, with potential end-of-season bonuses. Drivers can expect anywhere from 40 to 60 hours a week, depending on crop demands. This includes working public holidays and weekends. On-site accommodation may be arranged in dormitories or a camping area. Applicants must have full working rights in New Zealand and a valid Class 2 license.

Class 2 Truck Driver

Responsibilities

  • Drive a Class 2 truck to transport cherries from orchards to the main packhouse.
  • Drop off empty bins and collection buckets back to orchard areas.
  • Keep the truck clean, organized, and ready each day.
  • Check that loads are secure and transported safely.
  • Report any issues with the truck to the supervisor promptly.
  • Follow all road rules and company safety policies.
  • Communicate with orchard and packhouse teams to stay aligned.
  • Be available for early starts, weekends, and holiday shifts.

Requirements and Qualifications

Education

  • No formal education needed.
  • A valid Class 2 New Zealand driving license is required.

Experience

  • Prior experience with truck driving is preferred, especially in a seasonal or agricultural setting.
  • At least 1 year of driving heavy vehicles is recommended.
