Steel Fabricator

Responsibilities

  • Put together steel parts for waste and transport gear.
  • Work off technical drawings to get builds spot-on.
  • Nail MIG welding in all sorts of positions.
  • Fit metal bits together with no room for error.
  • Double-check work to make sure it’s up to scratch.
  • Look after welding gear and keep tools in good nick.
  • Sort out small fixes on hydraulic or mechanical setups.
  • Stick to safety rules to keep the shop humming safely.
  • Pitch in with the team to meet tight deadlines.
  • Speak up quick if something looks risky in the workshop.
  • Keep the work area tidy and ready for action.
  • Chuck in ideas to make the job faster or better.
  • Jot down what’s done and keep the boss in the loop.
  • Show newer folks the ropes when needed.
  • Hit production targets without cutting corners.

Requirements

Education

Trade cert in welding or fabrication’s a bonus, not a must.

Experience

At least 5 years of proper steel fabrication work.

Skills

  • Crackerjack MIG welding in different positions.
  • Good at making sense of technical drawings.
  • Sharp eye for getting things just right.
  • Easy to get along with and works well in a crew.
  • Can juggle tasks when things get hectic.
  • Handy with basic hydraulic or mechanical fixes.
