Responsibilities

  • Milk 1,699 cows each day in a clean dairy shed.
  • Fix fences and set up break fencing for grazing.
  • Drive tractors to feed stock or move materials.
  • Run and check hard hose and center pivot irrigation.
  • Mend stock water systems to keep them flowing.
  • Do routine farm upkeep, like cleaning sheds.
  • Follow safety rules to keep the farm compliant.
  • Move stock and watch for health issues.
  • Build temporary fences for pasture control.
  • Report broken equipment or problems fast.
  • Help manage weeds and keep pastures healthy.
  • Track daily tasks with simple records.
  • Work with the crew to hit farm goals.
  • Keep work areas neat and tidy.
  • Pitch in during calving or busy seasons.

Requirements

Education

 A high school diploma is needed. A short course in dairy farming or agriculture is helpful but not required.

Experience

2-4 years working on a dairy farm, doing milking, fencing, or tractor tasks, is a must. Irrigation experience is a bonus.
