Responsibilities
- Cook meals based on scheduled menus.
- Before and during shifts, prepare the ingredients.
- Maintain food at a safe temperature.
- Adapt meals to specific dietary requirements.
- Properly label and store leftovers.
- Maintain the cleanliness of the kitchen’s surfaces and equipment.
- Observe personal hygiene guidelines.
- Run slicers, steamers, ovens, and other appliances.
- When necessary, wash utensils and pans.
Stick to portion guidelines - Work closely with nutrition staff
- Help check inventory and report shortages
- Stay calm during rush periods
- Follow rules for food safety and health codes
- Assist with catering or special meal setups if required
Requirements and Qualifications
Education
High school diploma, GED, or relevant education preferred
Experience
Minimum of 1 year in a food service setting required
Skills
- Basic cooking and prep skills
- Can multitask and stay organized
