Silver Fern Farms Lt on the lookout for a hands-on electrician to join their team in Dargaville. You’ll be handling day-to-day electrical work, keeping things ticking across the plant. The role includes working a 4 days on / 4 days off rotating shift, 12 hours per day, so you’ll have solid downtime between your work blocks.

Maintenance Electrician

Responsibilities

• Keep plant equipment running smoothly with regular maintenance.
• Troubleshoot issues and respond to breakdowns.
• Assist with installing and upgrading electrical systems.
• Use your skills to improve reliability and reduce downtime.
• Log work clearly and follow safety protocols.
• Be part of project work as the site continues to upgrade.
• Think on your feet and suggest better ways of doing things.

Requirements and Qualifications

Education

• A New Zealand-recognised electrical trade certificate
• Full EWRB (Electrical Workers Registration Board) registration

Experience

• Previous hands-on work in a production plant or industrial setting is a plus
• Any time spent working with PLCs and VSDs will come in handy
• Experience managing solo tasks while staying aligned with a larger team

Skills

• Strong fault-finding ability – you know how to get to the root of the problem fast
• Comfortable working on your own but also reliable in a team environment
• Able to plan your workload and shift priorities when needed
• Confident using tools and systems to log maintenance tasks

Knowledge

• Familiarity with plant equipment and electrical systems in a fast-moving environment
• A safety-first mindset – you understand the risks and how to manage them
