Modern Niagara, based in Vaughan, Ontario, is looking to bring on a full-time truck driver. This role is part of a one-year contract and supports their warehouse and tool crib operations. If you’ve got a clean G license, know your way around a flatbed or 5-ton truck, and don’t mind an early morning shift this could be for you. It’s not just a driving gig. You’ll be moving construction gear, tools, prefab materials, and helping out with warehouse pickups. There’s some lifting involved around 50 to 100 pounds and a need to stay safe and sharp on the job. It’s also a chance to work with a team of seasoned tool managers, drivers, and purchasers. Job Title
Truck Driver
Responsibilities
- Deliver tools, equipment, and prefab materials like plumbing and sheet metal.
- Operate a 5-ton flatbed truck when required.
- Pick up materials from suppliers and support the warehouse team with tool crib activities.
- Load and unload vehicles using pallet jacks, hand bombing, or telehandler.
- Help organize orders, check materials, and assist with general inventory.
- Follow all security protocols while handling or moving the material.
- A clear, professional way communicates with teammates and suppliers.
- Be available to work from 06:00 to 15:30 with some flexibility needs.
- If necessary, take heavy loads up to 100 pounds.
- Help maintain a clean and organized vehicle and warehouse area.
Requirements and Qualifications
Education
No formal education required, but high school certificate is a plus.
Experience
- Minimum 3 years of driving experience preferred.
- Experience with flatbed trucks or 5-ton vehicles is an asset.
- No air brake needed for this role.
Licenses and Certifications
- Must have a valid and clean G-class driver’s license.
- Telehandler certification.
- TDG (Transportation of Dangerous Goods) training.
Skills
- Knows how to secure loads safely and efficiently.
- Comfortable using tools like pallet jacks and telehandlers.
- Good communication both verbal and written.
- Team player with a strong work ethic.
- Able to handle repetitive tasks without losing focus.
Knowledge
- Familiar with basic construction tools and materials.
- Understands workplace safety standards.
- Capable of following warehouse procedures and dispatch instructions.
- Has a working knowledge of safe lifting and material handling.
- Basic paperwork and order tracking know-how.
